I've personally seen a lot of Star Trek. When I say "a lot", I mean all of it. Every single movie and every single tv episode. So yes, I guess that officially classifies me as a nerd. Sheldon would be proud. ;D
For me, I never watched Star Trek in the 80's (because I wasn't born yet). So when I first saw Captain Piccard use his tablet, I didn't notice anything out of place. To me, that's completely normal. It took me a while to realize that laptops, tablets, "hand held communicators" were fantasy inventions at the time of filming.
Interesting point Wyatt. I didn't consider that the younger generation of viewers would not even notice the technology as futuristic because it is NOWtech. I also see that you are a fan of Portal. Great game series.
Ive never seen Star Trek. But when it comes to media or shows predicting the future I'm still waiting for flying cars.

DeleteI think inventions from long ago are now being made new, fancier, and bigger. In the next 5-10years, something else will take over .
